Free Art and Craft Class for Kids with Ronda Darlyn Bennett
As the community worked hard to rebuild, Lindsay Koss, the Jamaica Country Coordinator for SENT Global, and her family played a pivotal role. Thanks to their efforts, children were able to enjoy activities like choosing jewelry, playing football, and getting their nails painted at Ki’s on di Beach.
Not long after, a new initiative took shape. Renowned artist Ronda Bennett began offering free art classes for kids at Jack Sprat’s on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. These classes quickly became a creative haven, introducing the children to various art supplies, including poster boards, canvas boards, acrylic paint pens, and even rocks, stones, and Royal Poinciana seed pods.
The program, aptly named “Art from the Heart,” soon gained prominence, joining events like the Independence Day Boat Parade and expanding to Birch’s Lobster Pot in Great Bay. A new mantra emerged from this initiative: “Building Back with Love.”
Now, as the community continues to show resilience and support, Ronda is aiming to broaden the reach of “Art from the Heart” to public schools and districts in the Greater Treasure Beach area. She has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of raising $4,500 to ensure that all children can explore their creativity.
