Medical Clinic to remain open on Saturdays during August and September

Since Hurricane Beryl on July 3rd, demand for community health services such as seeing a qualified medical Doctor has been robust. The Treasure Beach Women’s Group (TBWG) Benevolent Society which has been instrumental in relief efforts for the community has announced the continuation of the Saturday clinic through August and September. The clinic will be staffed by a licensed physician and volunteers from 10am-2pm for medical needs such as minor trauma and refills for asthma, blood pressure, and diabetes.

Formed in September of 2000 under the auspices of the Bureau of Women’s Affairs and Peace Corps Volunteer Ann Wilson, the TBWG has played a pivotal role in the community since its inception. Since Hurricane Beryl, TGWG has delivered food water packages to thousands of people in over 20 districts per the BREDS Foundation. Their mission statement is a microcosm and more of all they have accomplished over the years: “To promote the advancement of women and the Treasure Beach community as a whole, through education, income producing projects, and awareness of women’s health and women’s issues”.

If there is a common thread amongst the clinic Doctors and Volunteers, it is a commitment to the community.
