Boat Captain and Tours of Treasure Beach

Meet the Boat Captains of Treasure Beach, Jamaica

Treasure Beach has a long tradition of fishing, and its colourful wooden and fibreglass boats remain part of everyday life along Jamaica’s south coast. These are not the yachts and catamarans you might find elsewhere on the island. They are traditional canoe-style fishing boats, taking you closer to the water, the coastline and the people who know it best.

Local boat captains offer a range of tours and experiences, from deep-sea fishing and snorkelling to dolphin spotting, crocodile viewing along the Black River and trips to well-known local haunts such as Floyd’s Pelican Bar and Rudy’s Jungle Bar.

With boats moored along the shoreline in Treasure Beach’s various bays, getting out on the water is easy. Whether you are looking for a fishing trip, a leisurely coastal cruise or a day exploring places best reached by sea, there is a captain ready to show you another side of the south coast.

Meet the local boat captains below, explore the trips they offer and find your own way to experience Treasure Beach from the water.

    Meet Captain Dennis

Born and raised in Treasure Beach, Dennis chose the sea from a young age. Learning everything on the Pedro Cays — fishing, cooking, navigating — he became one of Jamaica's south coast legends with over 20 years guiding these waters.

He's a master cook who turns fresh-caught lobster and fish into unforgettable beach feasts. A board director of the Breds Treasure Beach Foundation, Dennis helped establish the 1,150-acre Galleon Fish Sanctuary — protecting the waters he loves for future generations.

Father. Community leader. Friend of the sea.

"I was born and raised in Treasure Beach, and growing up as a young man I chose to be a fisherman."
