Selecta Antz-Man Full Moon Sessions: A Treasure Beach tradition under the Stars
There are some nights in Treasure Beach when everything seems to move a little slower. The sea settles into its rhythm, the heat eases off, conversations linger a little longer, and people begin drifting toward the same place, For the last decade, those nights have often arrived with the full moon.
On Thursday, August 27th, starting at 8:00 PM, that tradition continues as Selecta Antz-Man hosts another Full Moon Session at “Kim’s Place” by Big Kasha. Adding to the occasion, the evening will also feature a partial lunar eclipse, giving those who look skyward a little extra reason to pause between conversations, dancing, eating and drinks.
The Full Moon Sessions have never tried to be more than they are. There is no grand production, no elaborate social media or marketing campaign, and no pressure to create something bigger than the community itself. Instead, the gatherings have earned their place through consistency, good music, familiar faces, and the simple pleasure of spending an evening together.
LONG TIME SELECTA
The sessions began back in 2016 and have become something of a travelling tradition throughout Treasure Beach. Over the years they have been hosted at a variety of local spots including Kim’s Place, Eggy’s, Guilty’s Place, Katamah, 77 West, Lotus View, and Fisherman Bar. The idea has always been the same: support local businesses while creating a space where residents, returning visitors and first-time guests can come together under the moonlight.
THE GOOD VIBES
What makes these evening’s special is the mix of people who show up. There are locals finishing a day’s work, guests staying in the area, friends visiting from MoBay, Ochi, Kingston or overseas, and familiar faces who haven’t seen each other since the last full moon. Before long, distractions disappear. Everyone is simply part of the crowd; talking, laughing, sharing stories, and enjoying the night.
The soundtrack for Thursday’s gathering comes from Selecta Antz-Man, whose musical selections are anything but ordinary. His style reflects years spent as a hardcore techno DJ in Europe before making Treasure Beach home. The result is what he describes as an “outernational” blend of classic and mutant reggae, weaving together roots reggae, dub, lovers rock, rub-a-dub, ska, early dancehall, modern dancehall, bass music, grime, dubstep, and influences that stretch far beyond Jamaica’s shores.’

It is reggae at heart, but viewed through a wider lens. Familiar enough to keep people moving, yet different enough to keep them listening.
As for the setting, Kim’s Place by Big Kasha offers exactly the kind of atmosphere the Full Moon Sessions have become known for. Expect a genuine street-party vibe with people chatting over drinks, friends catching up, and others dancing whenever the mood or music hits them.
Kim will be serving soup and jerk chicken, and there is talk of the restaurant reopening fully, making the gathering another welcome milestone for a beloved local business.
When asked about his most memorable Full Moon Session, Antz-Man didn’t point to a single night, Instead, he spoke about the beach gatherings themselves; people with their feet in the sand, waves rolling in nearby, a bonfire glowing under the stars, and music carrying across the shoreline. It’s a scene that captures something essential about Treasure Beach — “simple things are the blessings”.
Perhaps that’s why the Full Moon Sessions have endured. They are not built around spectacle. They are built around community.
So if you find yourself in Treasure Beach on Thursday night, follow the sound of the music to Kim’s Place. Grab a bowl of soup, find a spot among friends old and new, and take a moment to look up. Between the full moon and the partial lunar eclipse, the sky will be putting on its own show.
