About

Georges Silvia Straughn comes from a family of fishermen from Treasure Beach, and he used to go fishing in Panama. As he grew older, his health became fragile and he learned another skill that runs in the family: wood carving. His father made dugout canoes out of cottonwood before fibreglass came along. And, naturally, a large part of his carvings are related to the sea: fish, mermaids, canoes and more.
